Abstract:
Fournier gangrene represents a critical surgical emergency often accompanied by systemic complications, with common systemic manifestations including sepsis and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. Its pathophysiological mechanisms involve multifactorial interactions, primarily associated with bacterial toxin release, host immune dysregulation, and regional microcirculatory impairment. Furthermore, underlying comorbidities such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, and hypertension may exacerbate inflammatory responses, thereby facilitating infectious dissemination. Recent years have witnessed substantial research advancements in elucidating the etiopathogenesis and therapeutic strategies of this condition. Through systematic review of contemporary literature, this article provides a comprehensive synthesis of current research developments and scholarly perspectives on Fournier's gangrene.
