Abstract:

Objective To explore the impact of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) nursing on self-care ability and pain in patients undergoing permanent colostomy for rectal cancer. Method From October 2019 to February 2022, 74 patients with permanent colostomy after rectal cancer surgery admitted to Nanjing Liuhe District People's Hospital were randomly divided into two groups using the digital table method. The control group had 37 patients receiving routine care, and the experimental group had 37 patients receiving ERAS care. Compare the self care ability and pain level of the two groups of patients. Result Before nursing, there was no significant difference in self care ability between the two groups (P > 0.05); after nursing, the score of self care ability of patients in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group, with a significant difference (P < 0.05). The VAS scores at 24h and 48h after surgery in the experimental group were (7.13±0.54) points and (4.30±0.29) points, respectively. The VAS scores at 24h and 48h after surgery in the control group were (7.20±0.41) points and (6.47±0.65) points, respectively. There was no significant difference in VAS scores between the two groups at 24 hours after surgery (t=0.628, P=0.532), but the VAS scores in the experimental group at 48 hours after surgery were significantly lower than those in the control group, with a significant difference (t=18.545, P < 000.1). Conclusion ERAS nursing can significantly improve the self care ability of patients with permanent colostomy after rectal cancer surgery, and reduce their postoperative pain. The nursing effect is significant.
