Research on factors impacting the size of stamp-charge battery coke

A 40 kg pilot oven was adopted to study the coal quality and main process parameters that affect the coke size. The research shows that the correlation indexes of coke size obtained from individual kind of coal and blended coal mainly include volatile matter of coal,shrinkage index and corresponding coke crushing strength M40. Reducing the volatile matter and shrinkage of blended coal is conducive to improving the coke size,and M40 has a high correlation with the average coke size. Increasing the bulk density of coal charging will significantly reduce the coke size, and high bulk density is one of the main reasons for the smaller size of stamp-charge battery coke than that of top-charge coke. Battery heating regime also has a great impact on coke size,in which simply prolonging the soaking time in the late coking period has a reaction on the average coke size,and only by truly slowing down the coking rate can the average coke size be increased

According to the situation of coal using in Beiying coking plant,the weighted active inert ratio is calculated through the vitrinite active weight function equation,and the optimized coal blending and coking experiment is carried out. Then the relation curve between coke CSR and coking coal weighted active inert ratio is obtained. The best weighted active inert ratio of blended coal is in the range of 2.8~3.2. Based on this principle,on the premise of coal blending and coking experiment and ensuring coke quality,the ratio of coking coal and fat coal can be reduced, and that of 1/3 coking coal and lean coal is increased,so as to lower the coal blending cost. The result shows that the weighted active inert ratio of coal is closely related to the CSR of coke,and the correlation coefficient is R=0.919. From the experience of coke oven production,coke quality can be improved when strong caking coal is reduced by 8%

 In order to alleviate the shortage of low-ash and low-sulfur coking coal and fat coal resources and stabilize the production of coke,our company introduced coking coal and fat coal from North America,carried out studies on individual kind of coal quality related to cokemaking characteristics, coal blending test,and analyzed correlation between blended coal quality and coke quality. The study results show that North American coking coal and fat coal are characterized with high quality behaviors,such as low ash and low sulfur,but with worse thermal properties(CRI & CSR)than those of similar coals in China. The indicators of volatile,caking index and ash contents of blended coal in the coal blending composition have a high linear fitting degree about 0.80 with the mechanical strength and thermal properties of coke. After coal blending optimization,8%~12% of North American coking coal or fat coal can be used in 7 m top-charge battery,and qualified coke with CSR~67.5% and~70% can be produced stably

A 140 t/h CDQ in an oversea steel plant has been running overload for a long time and the wall inside the ring duct of CDQ chamber was seriously bulged and a hole about 10 m2 emerged, which led to an emergency shutdown of the chamber for maintenance. After repairing the hole, heat-resistant stainless steel band is used to wind around the ring as one piece, and castables is grouted between the inner and outer walls of the ring duct to form a C-shape support. The top cover of the traditional oven roof is made of cast iron which is solid,heavy and of high heat conductivity. It would cause overheating, heavy labor intensity,harsh ambient air and low heat recovery rate. To solve this problem,the HB type oven top cover has been adopted widely for a long time in large-capacity coke oven roofs. The results show that after application,the external temperature of oven roof drops more than 100 ℃. The direct economic benefits created for energy saving and consumption reduction of coking enterprises has reached millions of yuan annually. The fugitive gas has been effectively reduced so that the VOCs treatment has also become much easier. The quality of the coke on top of the coking chamber was improved. In addition,the ambient condition of the coke oven roof has been remarkably improved,which has bettered health and protection of workers. It was studied the treatment methods of coal powder in coal blend affect on bulk density and coke quality under the moisture of 2%. The result showed that after the coal powder is separated and molded,the coal blend will have the highest bulk density,coke cake will have the minimum shrinkage in wide direction and coke cracks increase,the mass percentage of >40 mm coke greatly decreases and the coke abrasion resistance is improved;It is also found that after coal powder being removed from the coal blend,the coke cake will have maximum shrinkage,the mass percentage of >40 mm coke increases;coke strength after reaction(CSR)slightly increases and other indices are at moderate level when the coal blend is charged directly into the oven after being dried

Wet type DeSOx & DeNOx process is adopted in coke oven flue gas purification,and its byproduct ammonium sulfate mother liquor is delivered to the mother liquor storage tank of the saturator unit,and finally the ammonium sulfate product is produced after the treatment of the spray saturator and equilibrating with the existing production. The coking plant of Liuzhou Iron & Steel Co.,Ltd optimizes the tar removal process of coal water, extends the coal water retention time, and brings the effect of tar removal by gravity into full play. Meanwhile,the numbers of coal water distributors are increased and the outlet of coal water is improved to reach tar removal efficiency up to 83.65%. After the optimization,the tar content in the coal water is significantly reduced so that blockage in ammonia stripping line and the ammonia stripper can be avoided,and adverse impact on the subsequent process can be minimized.
