By analyzing the reactivity of metallurgical coke in different areas of blast furnace,a new understanding is concluded on the thermal property of metallurgical coke.It indicates that the current measuring method for coke reactivity and CSR is not suitable for blast furnace simulation.A more reasonable measuring method is discussed to stabilize blast furnace operation and control the coke quality properly.

On the basis of blending more anthracite for coke making,a 40kg pilot coke oven is used to study the optimum coal blending ratio to produce coke with high CSR.The result shows that with 30%~40% anthracite and 50%~55% coking coal and fat coal blended,the stamp-charging coke oven can produce coke with CSR higher than 60%,and both the mechanical strength and CSR of coke meet the requirement of first class metallurgical coke.

Analysis is made for the change of water quality before and after wet quenching by testing different waste water sources.The result shows that a finite concentration of waste water used as wet quenching source can not only ensure a stable operation for the quenching process,but also minimize the pollutants in the waste water,which is proved a better solution than using clean fresh water.
