Comparison is made to the features of different long span steel structures.Different structures of storage yard for coke plant are given according to different processes,equipment and locations.Based on project cases,solution is put forward in case of too large horizontal force on the foundation of long span yard.Summary is concluded for the common problems and solutions in design,such as temperature stress,support design,structure design，parameters selection,and gable wall enclosure,etc..Optimized design for the large span latticed shell structure is provided based on accumulated experiences.
