Abstract: This paper analyzes the smelting process of continuous casting and LF/LF+VD，VOD，
RH，SL/KIP，CAS/CAS-OB refining technologies. The main types of refractories for continuous
casting ladle and refining ladle lining are summarized. The advantages and disadvantages of
refractories for steel ladle lining are simply analyzed. The new development of MgO-C brick，
Al2O3-MgO-C brick，MgO-CaO（-C）brick，high alumina brick, MgO-Cr2O3 brick，Al2O3-
MgO-spinel carbon brick，Al2O3-MgO unburned brick，unshaped refractory technology and energy
saving technologies for continuous casting ladle and refining ladle lining are discussed in details.
It is pointed out that the refractory technologies for continuous casting ladle and refining ladle have
made remarkable progress，so the steel ladle lives have been significantly increased.
